Q&A Summary from NVIDIA VLM Webinar – EPC-R7300
We hosted a joint webinar with NVIDIA featuring the EPC-R7300 – an Edge AI box PC powered by Jetson Orin. Here are the most frequently asked questions and answers from the session.
Q1: What I/O expansion options are available for the EPC-R7300?
A: There are currently six types of I/O expansion modules supported, including RS-232/RS-485/GPIO combinations via the UIO-4030 module. These are designed for flexible adaptation across industrial applications.
Q2: What is the AI performance of EPC-R7300?
A: AI performance depends on the Jetson module:
Orin Nano 4GB/8GB: 20–40 TOPS
Orin NX 8GB/16GB: 70–100+ TOPS
The unit ships with Super Mode enabled and supports JetPack 5.1 and 6.2.
Q3: Has the EPC-R7300 been tested with YOLO or similar models?
A: Yes, it was tested with YOLOv8 and achieved approximately 10–20 FPS under Super Mode.
Q4: Can this system run LLMs or VLMs?
A: Yes, EPC-R7300 supports small-scale large language and vision-language models, depending on model size and use case. It’s suitable for LLM-based diagnostics, virtual assistants, and more.
Q5: Is 5G supported, and which regions are covered?
A: 5G support is available. Modules compatible with local frequency bands (e.g., Taiwan, Hong Kong) can be integrated.
Q6: What about multilingual speech recognition or TTS capabilities?
A: EPC-R7300 can enable real-time speech-to-text and text-to-speech with multi-language support. Actual performance may vary based on the selected model and workload.
Q7: For behavior recognition, should we use YOLO or LLMs?
A: YOLO is best for object and action detection. For understanding complex behaviors, LLMs or VLMs provide better interpretability when combined with visual input.
